Greg stands for:
Affordability
Summit's approach should be two-fold - First, protect property values:
- Focus on the things important to Summit, as outlined by residents in the Master Plan: increased connectivity, sustainability, and efficiency
- Maintain fiscally responsible city budget and transparent budgeting process
- Support our strong schools and pursue universal full-day kindergarten
Second, expand the commercial tax-base:
- Redevelop Broad Street to increase tax ratables and better utilize city-owned property
- Maintain Summit's character
- Vigorously pursue public input
Greg's leadership:
- Member of the Planning Board and Liaison to the Environmental Commission
- Working with city staff and other dedicated city volunteers to keep sustainability high on the agenda
- Participating with the Planning Board on the Downtown Regulation Ordinance Revision and Broad St West Redevelopment
Transparency
Summit's government works best when more people are involved in the process. We should seek out public input in the budgeting process - especially on capital projects.
Greg's leadership:
- Knocked on more than 1,500 doors with team of interns and volunteers to speak about residents' priorities and concerns
- Attended every Council meeting since April 2018
- Posting Vartan's Views blog and video after every meeting
Efficiency
Summit should leverage technology when we can find ways that make daily government operations, doing business, and parking easier for everyone while also saving money.
Greg's position:
- Very supportive of the city's new online permitting process
- Opportunities for sharing services with other municipalities should be explored
- Summit should create collaborative partnerships to learn what is working well in other municipalities
